About Our Company

Taylor Ballet Americana is a non-profit organization committed to promoting the art of ballet by offering quality training and endearing performances for residents of metropolitan Detroit.  The company celebrated its 25th anniversary in 2007 and is formally recognized as one of only a small number of regional ballets located in Michigan.

The company's annual performance schedule includes traditional classic and contemporary ballets as well as a critically acclaimed Nutcracker.  In addition to its annual production of the Nutcracker, Ballet Americana’s repertory includes Swan Lake, Coppelia, Les Sylphides, Stars and Stripes, Tarantella, Carmina Burana, A Soldier's Tale, and more.

Beginning in 2006, The Nutcracker has been performed annually in Detroit at the DSA Ford Theater for the Arts, accompanied by The Detroit Symphony Civic Orchestra.

Ballet Americana has performed at Regional Dance America festivals throughout the midwestern United States. Numerous top professionals in the dance world have served as guest instructors and choregraphed arrangements for the company, including Bill Evans and Joe Istre.

State-of-the-art studios are located at 22805 Goddard Road in the City of Taylor, Michigan.  A full schedule of ballet, pointe, and partnering classes are available.  Students of the Taylor Dance Program, an affiliate of Ballet Americana, are given the opportunity to audition and perform with the company.
